One of the most loved films about friendship and love, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani completed 10 years today.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani at the time of it’s release was a huge Blockbuster at the Box Office. The film was released during non-holiday at the Box Office. YJHD was the biggest non-holiday Blockbuster at the time of its release. The film went on to collect 178 cr nett at the Domestic Box Office. The film collected 295 cr gross at the Global Box Office. The film was the 4th highest grossing film of the year worldwide and domestically. The film had registered footfalls of 2.02 crores.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was known for its music, characters, story, dialogues, writing, direction and performances.
The film had a subject which attracted youth and appealed to them in large numbers. The film had a refreshing subject which was loved by all. The film gave the vibes of Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani had a chartbuster music album with all songs topping the chart. The music played a very important role in the film’s success.
The film was directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar. The film starred Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin among others.
Ayan Mukerji the director of the film shared a heartfelt note on his social media on the occasion of the film completing 10 years.
While sharing the note Ayan wrote,
‘YJHD – My second child, a piece of my heart and soul – 10 years old today!
I think after all these years, I can confidently say that…Making this movie was one of the greatest joys of my life! And what we achieved with it – with all its perfections and imperfections – is a source of great eternal pride for me!
Strangely, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani fully from beginning to end, since the day it released …(Always pushing towards the next milestone, and not looking back enough…!)
But when I’m older and wiser – I think I will watch the movie atleast once a year – because a big part of who I was and how I looked at life – is forever captured in this movie!
In the recent months, I have often had people recognise me and come up to me… and I’m thinking they will say something about Brahmastra, and then they started talking about YJHD!
So, putting out a whole lot of gratitude for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani… and all the many people who connected deeply with the movie over the years!
