Sameer Khakhas passes away at the age of 71. He passed away due to multiple organ failure. Sameer was was admitted to M M Hospital, Borivali where he breathed his last. He was kept on ventilator and passed away around 4:30 am.
He was known for his role in TV serial Nukkad where he plays the role of a drunken guy named Khopdi. Nukkad aired on DD National in 1986-87. It was directed by Kundan Shah and Saeed Akhtar Mirza. He was also known for his role in silent film Pushpaka Vimana starring Kamal Haasan (1987) where he plays the role of an alcoholic businessman.
He was part of TV serials like Circus (1989), Shrimaan Shrimati (1994), Adaalat (2013) and Sanjivani (2019).
He was part of films like Shahenshah (1988), Guru (1989), Parinda (1989), Vardi (1989), Awwal Number (1990), Hum Hain Kamaal Ke (1993), Dilwale (1994), Raja Babu (1994), Aatank Hi Aatank (1995), Hasee Toh Phasee (2014), Jai Ho (2014), Meri Pyaari Bindu (2017), Pataakha (2018), Made In China (2019) and Serious Men (2020).
He was last seen in the Zee5 webseries Sunflower with Sunil Grover in the lead role which was released in 2021.
Khakhar was in the news when he returned from US. He was looking for work and had given a statement. He said, “Everybody is looking for work and so am I. And by looking for work I mean approaching and applying for a job. In the case of actors, it is a daily exercise with every film or show. But I am a bad salesman. I am hopeful people who know me will offer me work. I would like to work till my last breath. I want to entertain people all my life, I am not tired yet.”
Sameer Khakhar has contributed in both TV serials and movies and was also a a part of some Gujarati plays. May his soul rest in peace.
