Aasif Khan’s wife Zeba has finally broken her silence amid the controversy surrounding the actor’s health scare and the recent clash between him and fellow Bigg Boss 20 contestant Qazi Touqeer. Taking to her Instagram handle, Zeba shared pictures of Aasif from the hospital along with his medical reports, revealing that the actor had suffered a massive heart attack at the age of 34. She also expressed anguish over the negativity directed at her husband and their family.
The development comes after Qazi Touqeer sparked controversy inside the Bigg Boss 20 house by mimicking a heart attack during an argument. Qazi was heard saying, “Mujhe dil ka daura aa raha hai,” while engaging in banter with Mahhi Vij following a nominations task. Aasif, who has previously spoken about his health scare, took offence to the remark, leading to a heated confrontation between the two contestants. Qazi reportedly apologised after realising that his comment had upset Aasif, but the disagreement escalated further, with Aasif appearing to headbutt him during the altercation. The incident subsequently triggered a wider debate on social media about the remark and the contestants’ reactions.
Amid the ongoing controversy, Zeba took to social media to explain what her husband had gone through and why the family was deeply hurt by the situation. In her note, she said she had initially chosen to remain silent in the hope that the matter would settle down, but the accusations and negativity made her speak up.
She wrote, “I stayed silent, hoping time would heal the hurt and people would move on. But the accusations and negativity directed at my husband and our family have made it impossible to stay quiet any longer. Having witnessed Aasif’s pain firsthand, I feel I owe it to him and our family to share the truth. Yes, Aasif had a heart attack. A massive one. At just 34. It breaks my heart that I now have to share his medical reports just to prove what he went through was real. I never imagined something so personal would have to be made public for people to believe him.”
Zeba further explained that Aasif had initially described his condition as GERD rather than a heart attack because he feared that disclosing a serious medical issue could affect his professional opportunities. She said the actor was concerned about losing projects he had worked hard to secure and about the impact the revelation could have on his future in the entertainment industry.
Recalling the frightening moments surrounding his hospitalisation, Zeba revealed that the actor’s main coronary artery had been completely blocked and that he had required intensive care and a stent. She also spoke about the emotional toll the incident had taken on him, particularly because Aasif had lost his father to a heart attack when he was a child.
Sharing how painful it had been to see her husband’s health struggles become a subject of ridicule, Zeba condemned the abuse directed at their family. She claimed that they had received death threats against Aasif and rape threats against their family, adding that nothing could justify such behaviour.
Questioning the growing hostility surrounding the reality show, Zeba asked when entertainment had become an excuse for cruelty and why disagreements were being used to threaten someone’s life or target their family.
She concluded her note by urging people to approach such situations with empathy and kindness, emphasising that every contestant has a life and family beyond the cameras. Zeba also stressed that criticism should never turn into cruelty and that no disagreement should come at the cost of basic human decency.
