Zee TV’s popular family drama Jamai No. 1 has consistently delivered gripping twists and emotionally charged storylines, keeping audiences thoroughly engaged. In an upcoming high-stakes track, the spotlight shifts to Riddhi (played by Simaran Kaur), who takes a bold leap as she steps into a courtroom to defend her husband Neel (Abhishek Malik), who has been wrongly accused by Sayli (Sonal Vengurlekar) of a serious crime.
This plot twist marks a significant evolution in Riddhi’s character, from a loving wife to a fierce and determined lawyer. Simaran Kaur, known for her dedication to her roles, has gone the extra mile to bring authenticity and depth to this courtroom avatar. To prepare, she immersed herself in legal research, studied body language, and watched several courtroom dramas for reference. One of her major inspirations was Kareena Kapoor Khan’s portrayal of Advocate Priya in Aitraaz, where Kareena’s quiet strength and moral conviction deeply resonated with her.
Speaking about her preparation, Simaran shared, “I was thrilled when I learned that Riddhi would represent Neel in court. The transformation—from an emotional low point to finding strength and stepping into a courtroom—is incredibly powerful. I wanted to get the tone, body language, and confidence of a lawyer just right. Watching Aitraaz really helped; Kareena’s courtroom presence had the perfect balance of calm and strength, which I wanted to incorporate into Riddhi.”
She added, “This role was more than just delivering dialogues, it was about commanding the courtroom space with authenticity. I worked closely with the team on my speech delivery, practised walking and talking like a lawyer, and rehearsed extensively to make Riddhi’s courtroom scenes impactful. I truly hope viewers can connect with the passion and intensity she brings to this new chapter.”
As the courtroom drama unfolds in Jamai No. 1, the tension escalates. Will Riddhi succeed in unmasking Sayli’s lies and clearing Neel’s name? Or will Sayli’s manipulative tactics sway the verdict? The upcoming episodes promise emotional intensity, dramatic confrontations, and one of the most empowering arcs for Riddhi yet.
