In a heartbreaking moment that moved the entire entertainment industry, actor Parag Tyagi was seen breaking down while performing the last rites of his wife, actress Shefali Jariwala. Famously known as the “Kaanta Laga Girl,” Shefali passed away on June 27, 2025, at the age of 42 due to a suspected cardiac arrest at her Andheri residence in Mumbai. Despite being rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital, she was declared dead on arrival. The suddenness of her passing sent shockwaves across the industry and among her fans.

Shefali’s funeral took place the next day, June 28, at the Oshiwara Crematorium—ironically, the same place where television star Sidharth Shukla was cremated. The solemn ceremony was attended by her grief-stricken family, close friends, and several well-known faces from the industry. Among those who came to pay their last respects were Arti Singh, Shehnaaz Gill, Paras Chhabra, Rashami Desai, Mahira Sharma, Mika Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, Hindustani Bhau, and others. An emotional video of Parag kneeling beside Shefali’s body, gently touching her forehead, and placing a final kiss went viral, capturing a raw and intimate moment of love, grief, and loss. Parag, clearly devastated, was seen struggling to contain his emotions as he carried out the last rites with the support of her father, Satish, who also served as a pallbearer.

Shefali Jariwala rose to instant fame with her iconic appearance in the 2002 music video “Kaanta Laga.” Over the years, she built a steady presence on both television and digital platforms, appearing in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Nach Baliye, and Bigg Boss 13, as well as ALTBalaji’s Baby Come Naa. Behind the glamour, she had also battled health issues, including epilepsy and mental health challenges, which she spoke about openly. Her husband Parag was her pillar of strength throughout these battles. The couple first met at a friend’s party after Shefali’s first marriage ended in divorce in 2009. They dated for four years and eventually tied the knot in 2014. Their relationship was widely admired, and many saw them as a symbol of love, resilience, and emotional support.

Following her death, a post-mortem was conducted at Cooper Hospital to confirm the cause, though no foul play has been reported by authorities as of now. Police statements were collected from Parag and other individuals who were present at her home during the incident. Meanwhile, tributes poured in from all corners of the entertainment world. Celebrities like Aly Goni, Zareen Khan, Mika Singh, Kiku Sharda, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Anurag Sharma took to social media to express their condolences and shared memories of Shefali’s warmth and positive spirit.

Speaking through tears in a brief statement, Parag Tyagi described Shefali as “the kind of woman any man would want as a wife,” a partner who stood by him in every storm and remained deeply kind despite her struggles. His words, much like the visuals of him bidding her farewell, resonated deeply with the public. As the entertainment industry mourns the untimely demise of a vibrant personality, Shefali Jariwala’s legacy will be remembered not only for her dazzling performances but also for her strength, sincerity, and the profound love she shared with her husband.
