Roma Arora has seamlessly transitioned from being a doctor to a celebrated actress and model. Known for her roles in popular television shows like Kundali Bhagya, Kathaa Ankahee, and Jhanak, she has now captivated audiences in live theater as the lead actress in Pyar Mein Twist. Recently, she took on a new role—one that brought her closer to music, nostalgia, and a legendary voice that defined an era. Roma was the celebrity host of Krazy for Kishore, a grand Bollywood musical tribute dedicated to the legendary playback singer Kishore Kumar.
“Music has a way of transcending borders, and that was exactly the essence of Krazy for Kishore,” says Roma. The event, organized by Showbiz Entertainment’s Roopesh Mehta, took place in Chicago on October 25th & 26th, 2024, and in Nashville, Illinois on November 2nd, 2024. The tribute featured three spectacular performances that left audiences enchanted.
“The evenings were a celebration of Kishore Kumar’s timeless songs, which continue to hold a special place in the hearts of music lovers across generations. The voice that brought his magic to life on stage was Jai Kumar, who dedicated his life to Kishore Kumar, singing in his voice for 40 years. Not only does he sound like him, but he also resembles him and dresses like him, bringing Kishore’s magic to life on stage. Along with other talented singers Girish Doiphode and Rinkle Dhorda. Each performance resonated deeply with the audience, bringing back memories of an era that defined Indian music,” she adds.
As the event’s host and narrator, Roma Arora played a crucial role, “My role was to guide the audience through Kishore Kumar’s journey, revealing the stories behind his most iconic songs. Every melody had a history, every lyric had a deeper meaning, and it was an honor to share those moments with the audience. The response was overwhelming—people listened intently, laughed, cheered, and even got emotional as they relived the golden era of Bollywood music,” she recalls.
One of the most touching aspects of the event was the connection it fostered with the Indian diaspora in the U.S. She says, “Indians living abroad deeply miss their roots, and music serves as a beautiful bridge to home. Many attendees expressed their gratitude, sharing how the show made them feel closer to their culture and heritage. Requests for favorite songs poured in, and the energy in the auditorium was electrifying.”
Reflecting on the experience, she says, “For me, Krazy for Kishore was not just a show; it was an experience, one that reaffirmed the power of music in bringing people together,” Roma says with emotion. “It was an absolute joy to see so many smiling faces, to hear the applause, and to witness the love and admiration people still hold for Kishore Kumar.”
Roma Arora feels grateful to have been a part of such a meaningful tribute. “The melodies of Kishore Kumar will forever remain immortal, and as long as his music plays, his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of millions,” she concludes.
