Actress, tarot card reader, healer, and occultist Hansa Singh, who has been part of projects like Human, Criminal Justice 3, and the film Goodbye, started her career in TV but has so far been part of various projects in films and OTT. Talking about her career, she said, “It’s been a pretty long journey, yet I feel fresh and ever-evolving. I definitely started with TV, though. I was supposed to start with a film with the late Om Puri ji, but due to differences between the producer and director, it couldn’t take off. So, my beginning happened with Yug.”

“My last TV show was a magnum opus, to say the least, as it had all the right ingredients: Aarambh. For me, it was like a film because of the way it was shot, written by Vijayendra Prasad Sir, and directed by Goldie Behl. My first film was a Hollywood film helmed by the late Jag Mundhra, Betrayed by Passion. At the same time, Madhur (Madhur Bhandarkar) approached me for Page 3, a cult film beyond its time. My last film released was another cult film called Hunterrr, as it is more commonly known. Yet, statistically, it’s Goodbye, a beautiful cameo with Neena Gupta and Amitabh Bachchan, sir. My last web series that people talked about was Criminal Justice 3, directed by the super cool Rohan Sippy,” she added.

Her career graph, however, has seen many breaks, and she confessed it was depressing and disappointing. She added, “Every person with whom I have worked has appreciated my screen presence and work, yet there have been gaps. But now I have made peace with it, as it shall happen when it’s to happen. Given that the five projects I shot have yet to be released in the last six years, I have realized, apne man ka ho toh accha na ho toh bahut hi accha.”

But as an actor, Hansa is constantly working on upskilling her craft and enhancing her skills. She said, “Potential never goes out of fashion; it’s always there. As an actor, I keep honing my skills because that’s within my control. Even when luck has been on my side, people impose conditions (which I don’t give in to). It’s not that I lack ambition, but I believe there’s a fine line between ambition and being overly ambitious, as I mentioned earlier.”

“I’ve been busy shooting for films, web series, and music videos, eagerly awaiting their release soon. During the gap periods, I engage in various hobbies and activities to keep myself occupied, such as tarot reading and life coaching. I recall an interview where Sunny Leone emphasized the importance of hobbies, and I couldn’t agree more. Every individual should have hobbies to keep their life and mind active,” she added.

While social media has become a rage, she has not yet become a slave to the algorithms or follower count. She said, “Thankfully, up until now, I haven’t been subjected to it, at least not directly. But I have heard many actors talking about it, so there must be some truth to it. I believe talent is talent, whether it brings in box office numbers or TRP. However, having followers does not guarantee someone is a good actor. So, this norm of casting based on followers suggests to me that the production house does not trust its story or its director. They need actors’ followers to ensure the success of their film or series. How sad. They are starting their journey on the wrong foot. Change is inevitable, but it should come from believing in oneself, not relying on others’ shoulders.”
